Hedwig was born about 1240 in Rietberg, the daughter of Friedrich I von Arnsberg and Beatrix von Horstmar.

She died about 1305 in Diepholz.

Her husband was Konrad V (VI) von Diepholz. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their eight known children were Hedwig (c1275-c1298), Konrad (c1276-?), Rudolf III (c1278->1350), Burkhard (c1280->1309), Otto (c1282->1309), Hildebold (c1285->1330), Agnes (c1288->1237) and Simon (c1290->1320).
