Alexander was born about 1329 in Crawford, Clydesdale, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, the son of sir David de Lindsay and Mary de Abernethy.
He died in OCT 1381 in Candia (Κάντια), Crete .
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Katherine Stirling. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were David (c1359-1407) and Eupheme (c1360-1413).
His second wife was Margery Stewart, who he married on BEF 19 OCT 1378. The place has not been found. Their two known children were sir William (?-<1437) and sir Walter (?-1424).
