He died in 1407 in Finavon castle (Finhaven), Angusshire, Scotland.
His wife was Elizabeth Katherine Stewart, who he married in BET 1380 AND 1384. The place has not been found. Their eight known children were William (c1386-?), Alexander (c1387-<1438), Margery (1389-1421), Elizabeth (1391-1452), David (1407-?), Isabel (c1408-?), Gerard IV (?-1421) and Ingelram (?-?).
