Alexander was born in 1267 in Crawford, Clydesdale, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, the son of sir David de Lindsay and Margaret de Lindsay.
He died after 1308. The place is not known.
His wife was NN Stewart. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their five known children were Beatrice (c1302-<1352), sir David (c1296-c1357), sir Alexander (>1314-?), Reginald (>1314-?) and William (c1293-c1339).
