Alfonso was born on 11 AUG 1311 in Salamanca, the son of Fernando IV de Castilla and Constança de Portugal.

He died on 26 MAR 1350 in Gibraltar (now British Overseas Territory) .

He had three marriages/partners. His first wife was Constanza Manuel de Castilla, who he married in 1325 in Valladolid, Campiña del Pisuerga, Valladolid prov., Castilla y León, España . They had no known children.

His second wife was María Constança de Portugal, who he married in 1328 in Alfayete. Their two known children were Fernando (1332-1333) and Pedro I (1334-1369).

His third partner was Leonor de Guzmán y Ponce de León, but they were never married. Their nine known children were Pedro (1330-1338), Enrique II (1334-1379), Fadrique Alfonso (1334-1358), Fernando Alfonso (1336->1342), Tello Alfonso (1337-1370), Juan (1341-1359), Sancho Alfónsez (1342-1374), Pedro (1345-1359) and Juana (?-?).
