Vlad was born before 1395 in Wallachia, the son of Mircea I Basarab and Maria Tolmay.
He died in DEC 1446 in Balteni.
He had three marriages/partners. His first wife was Vasilissa Mușat. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were Mircea II (?-1447) and Vlad III (1431-1476).
His second wife is not known. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Radu III (<1439-1475).
His third partner was Călțuna, but they were never married. Their two known children were Vlad IV (?-1495) and Mircea (?-?).
