Elizabeth was born about 1483 in Drakelowe, Derbyshire, England, the daughter of sir Thomas Gresley and Anne Ferrers.

She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was John Montgomery. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were Dorothy (c1493-<1529) and Ellen (c1504-1549).

Her second husband was sir John Giffard, who she married in BEF APR 1515. The place has not been found. Their two known children were William (1492-?) and Frances (c1500-?).
