Matilda was born in 1488 in Hamstall, Ridware, Staffordshire, England, the daughter of Richard Cotton and Joan Brereton.
She died in 1551. The place is not known.
Her husband was sir Anthony FitzHerbert. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their seven known children were John (?-1589), Elizabeth (c1496-?), sir Thomas (?-1591), William (?-1558), Richard (?-?), Dorothy (?-1557) and Margery (c1472-?).
