Katherine was born about 1318 in Lea Hall, Preston, Lancashire, England, the daughter of sir Richard de Hocton and Sibyl de Lea.

She died after 1368 in Kinderton cum Hulme, Northwich, Cheshire, England.

Her husband was sir Hugh de Venables. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their six known children were sir Hugh (c1333-c1383), sir Richard (1336-1403), Margaret (c1340->1417), Joan (c1345->1397), Roger (?-<1388) and Thomas (?->1368).
