He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Isabel le Despenser, who he married on 9 FEB 1321. The place has not been found. Their two known children were Mary (c1332-1396) and Edmund (c1327->1377).

His second wife was Eleanor Plantagenêt, who he married on 5 FEB 1345 in Ditton. Their six known children were Richard III (1346-1397), John (1348-1379), Eleanor (c1350-1396), Alice (c1352-1415/16), Thomas (?-1413) and Joan (1347-1419).
