Edmund was born about 1425 in Dudley castle, Worcestershire (now in West Midlands), England , the son of John VI de Sutton and Elizabeth de Berkeley.
He died about 1485. The place is not known.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Joyce Tiptoft. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were sir Edward (1459-1532) and sir John (?-?).
His second wife was Maud de Clifford. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Dorothy (c1465-1517).
