John was born about 1320 in South Brent, Somerset, England, the son of Richard St. Barbe but his mother is unknown.
He died in 1404 in St. Donats, West Glamorgan, Glamorganshire, Galles.
His wife was Margaret de Langland. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Richard (c1363-?), Joan (c1365-?) and Isabel (c1377-1429).
