He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Foelke van Esens. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. They had no known children.
His second wife was Theda Ukena von Oldersum, who he married in 1453. The place has not been found. Their six known children were Hebe (1457-<1478), Gela (1458-1497), Enno I (1460-1491), Edzard I (1462-1528), Uko (1463-1507) and Almuth (1465-1522/23).
