William was born in 1303 in Rosslyn castle, Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland, the son of William St. Clair but his mother is unknown.
His wife was Isabel Strathearn, who he married on 28 MAY 1344. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Henry I (c1345-c1404).
