Malcolm was born after 1295 in Stobhall, Cargill, Perthshire, Scotland, the son of Malcolm Drummond and NN de Graham.

He died on 17 OCT 1346 in battle of Neville's Cross, Durham, England .

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Margaret de Graham. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were sir John (c1318-c1373) and Margaret (c1340->1375).

His second wife is not known. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were sir Maurice (1322-?) and Walter (1323-?).
