Wizlaw was born about 1240 in Bergen auf Rügen, Pommern, Tyskland, the son of Jaromar II von Rügen and Eufemia von Pommern.

He died on 29 DEC 1302 in Oslo, Norge .

His wife was Agnes von Braunschweig-Lüneburg, who he married in BET 1263 AND 1269. The place has not been found. Their eight known children were Wizlaw III (<1268-1325), Jaromar (c1267-c1294), Sambor (c1267-1304), Helene (c1270-1315), Margareta (c1270/71-c1318), Swantepolk (c1273->1285), Euphemia (c1280-1312) and Sophia (c1281->1302).
