Otto was born about 1226 in Nassau, the son of Heinrich II von Nassau-Wiesbaden and Mechteld van Gelre.

He died in 1289/90 in Nassau.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Agnes von Leiningen-Saarbrücken, who he married in BEF 1288. The place has not been found. Their six known children were Heinrich I (c1266-c1343), Mechtild (c1268-1319), Emicho I (?-1334), Johann (?-1328), Gertrud (?-1359) and Otto (?-?).
