Margaret was born about 1308 in Abernethy, Perthshire, Scotland, the daughter of Alexander de Abernethy and Mary Stewart.

She died after 1370 in Bonkyl, Berwickshire, Scotland.

Her husband was sir John Stewart, who she married on 24 OCT 1328. The place has not been found. Their two known children were Thomas (<1330-1361) and Alexander (?-?).
