Ieuan was born in 1344 in Marchog-Tir, Defynnog, Breconshire, Cymru, the son of Watkin ap Hywel and Elisbeth Walbieffe.
His wife was Annes verch Dafydd. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Watkin ap Ieuan (c1370-c1415).
