Edmund was born about 1342 in Dutton, Runcorn, Cheshire, England, the son of Thomas de Dutton and Ellen Thornton.
His wife was Joan Minshull. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were Piers (c1367-1433) and Hugh VI (c1370-c1440).
