Catherine was born in 1362 in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Galles, the daughter of Richard Oldcastle and Alice Pembridge.
Her husband was sir Thomas Bromwich. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Elizabeth Maud (1391-c1420).
