Hugh was born about 1347 in Acton Burnell castle, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, the son of Nicholas de Hadlo but his mother is unknown.

He died on 27 NOV 1420 in Cotton, Suffolk, England.

He had three marriages/partners. His first wife was Phillippe de la Pole. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was sir Edward (c1382-1413).
