Alan was born about 1291 in Winton, East Lothian, Scotland, the son of Alan de Winton and Margaret Murray.
He died in 1347 in Palestine.
His wife was Margaret de Seton. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their four known children were William (?-c1409/10), Christian (c1340-c1402), Henry (?-?) and Alexander (?-?).
