Robert was born about 1335, the son of Robert I Brunel de Wavrin and Marie de Roye. The place is not known.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Laure de Mauvoisin, who he married in ABT 1336. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Beatrix (c1330->1410), Marie (?-?) and Catherine (c1344-c1394).

His second wife was Alix Quieret. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Robert III (?-1367).
