Fastré was born about 1290 in Ligny, Namur, Belgique, the son of Jean I de Ligne and Isabelle van Strjen-Zevenbergen.

He died on 28 DEC 1337 in Venice, Italy.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Jeanne de Condé, who he married in 1305. The place has not been found. Their eight known children were Michel I (?-1345), Guillaume (c1311-1387), Jeanne (c1315-1364), Nicolas (?-1377), Robert (?-1362), Jeanne (?-1368), Alix (?-?) and Catherine (?-1397).

His second wife was Marguerite de Gâvre, who he married in 1329. The place has not been found. They had no known children.
