Sofija was born about 1244 in Halych (Галич, Halicz), Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine (formerly in Galicia-Volhynia) , the daughter of Danylo I Romanovych and Anna Mstislavna of Novgorod.

She died about 1290. The place is not known.

Her husband was Heinrich V von Schwarzburg-Blankenburg, who she married in 1259. The place has not been found. Their eight known children were Günther XIV (?->1315), Heinrich VII (c1267-1324), Jutta I (?->1329), Günther XV (?-1352), Günther XVI (?-1345), Heinrich VIII (?-1304), Jutta II (?-1358) and Agnes (?->1326).
