Janet was born in 1336 in Hermiston, Roxburghshire, Scotland, the daughter of sir James Douglas and Agnes Dunbar.
Her husband was William de la Haye. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Jane (c1355-?), Thomas (c1354->1397) and Elizabeth (c1360-?).
