Henneke was born before 1470, the son of Markvard Rantzau but his mother is unknown. The place is not known.

He died after 1543 in Neversdorf (Neverstorf), Segeberg.

His wife was Margrethe Silvertsdatter Heesten. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their five known children were Markvard (c1505-1570), Claus Scheele (1506-<1571), Jørgen (?-1563), Margrethe (?-1562) and Agathe (c1510->1564).
