Sofie was born about 1300 in Brandenburg, the daughter of Heinrich I von Brandenburg and Agnes von Bayern.

She died in 1356. The place is not known.

Her husband was Magnus I von Braunschweig-Göttingen, who she married in ABT 1327. The place has not been found. Their nine known children were Mathilde (?->1354), Magnus II (c1328-1373), Sophie (c1340-1394), Agnes (c1343-1404), Albrecht (?-1395), Heinrich (?->1382), Otto (?-1339), Ludwig (?-1367) and Ernst (?->1385).
