Joan was born about 1393 in Dunston, Norfolk, England, the daughter of William Appleyard and Margaret de Clere.
Her husband was sir Thomas Jernegan. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was sir John Appleyard (c1400-c1474).
