Matts was born about 1300 in Dalum, Vinsarp, the son of Udd Brunsson but his mother is unknown.
His wife was Ingeborg Knutsdotter Vinstorpaätten. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Udd Mattsson (c1335-<1371).
