Alexander was born about 1410 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland, the son of sir Alexander Napier but his mother is unknown.

He died on 15 FEB 1474 in Merchiston, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

His wife was Elizabeth Lauder. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their four known children were Henry (c1420-?), Alexander (c1421-?), sir John (c1432-c1487) and Janet (c1440->1512).
