Elizabeth was born in MAY 1663 in Bretby, Derbyshire, England, the daughter of Philip Stanhope and Elizabeth Butler.

She died on 24 APR 1723 in Castle Lyon, Scotland.

Her husband was John Lyon, who she married on 21 NOV 1691. The place has not been found. Their ten known children were Patrick (1692-1709), Philip (1693-1712), Helen (c1695-1723), John (1696-1715), Mary (c1697-1780), Charles (c1699-1728), Hendrie (1700-?), James (c1702-1735), Thomas (1704-1753) and Catherine (c1707-?).
