He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Evdokiya Feodorovna Lopukhina, who he married in 1689. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Alexei Petrovich (1690-1718), Alexander Petrovich (1691-1692) and Pavel Petrovich (1693-1693).
His second wife was Martha Elena Skawronskaja, who he married in 1707. The place has not been found. Their eleven known children were Pavel Petrovich (1704-1707), Pjotr Petrovich (1705-1707), Catherine Petrovna (1707-1708), Anna Petrovna (1708-1728), Elizaveta Petrovna (1709-1762), Maria Petrovna (1713-1715), Margarita Petrovna (1714-1715), Pjotr Petrovich (1715-1719), Pavel Petrovich (1717-1717), Natalia Petrovna (1718-1725) and Pjotr Petrovich (1723-1723).
