Blancheflor was born in 1248 in Jülich, the daughter of Willem IV van Gulik and Richardis van Gelre.
Her husband was Heinrich I von Sponheim-Starkenburg. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Johann II (?-1324).
