Sofia was born about 1235 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the daughter of unknown parents.
She died in 1286 in Sverige.
Her husband was Valdemar I Birgersson Folkungaätten, who she married in 1250. The place has not been found. Their four known children were Ingeborg Valdemarsdotter (?-c1293), Erik Valdemarsson (1271/72-c1331), Marina Valdemarsdotter (c1268-?) and Richiza Valdemarsdotter (?-<1293).
