Joan was born about 1309 in Goring, Sussex, England, the daughter of sir Nicholas III (IV) de Poyntz and Matilda de Acton.
She died in 1346. The place is not known.
Her husband was sir Richard Baskerville. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Richard (1343-1374).
