Enguerrand was born about 1255 in Coucy-le-Château, Aisne, Picardie, France, the son of Arnould III de Guînes and Alix de Coucy.

He died after 1321 in Coucy-le-Château, Aisne, Picardie, France.

His wife was Christine de Lindsay, who he married in BEF 1285. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Enguerrand (c1280-1344), Guillaume I (<1290-1335) and Robert (?->1311).
