Catharina was born about 1300 in Houten, Utrecht, the daughter of Gijsbert IV (II) uten Goye and Margaretha Hubertsdatter van Beusichem.

Her husband was ridder Hendrik I van Vianen. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Gijsbrecht (c1321-1391), Zweder (c1329-<1403) and Hendrik (c1339-<1394).
