Jan 1, 8 M. Ménard, wife of Bélair, was drowned with Demers' little girl while crossing the river in a cutter. Demers' wife, who held her one-year-old child in her arms, was rescued also, Bélair and Duroseau, who hung to Demers' cape. (Hubert, Pt., Vic-Gen.)
