Robert was born in 1168, the son of Pierre I Capet and Élisabeth de Courtenay. The place is not known.
He died in 1239 in Palestine.
His wife was Mahaut de Mehun-sur-Yèvres, who he married in ABT DEC 1216. The place has not been found. Their five known children were Pierre (1218-1250), Philippe (1221-1246), Raoul (1223-1271), Robert (1224-1279) and Jean (1226-0270).
