Mathieu was born about 1135, the son of Mathieu I de Montmorency and Alice d'Angleterre. The place is not known.
He died in 1204 in Byzantium (Βυζάντιον, Constantinople, Istanbul), Istanbul prov., Marmara, Turkey .
His wife was Mathilde de Garlande, who he married in BEF MAR 1194. The place has not been found. Their four known children were Bouchard I (c1170-1226), Marguerite (?-<1231), Guillaume (?-1221) and sir Mathieu (?-c1249).
