Jenkin was born in 1302 in Wernddu, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Cymru, the son of Adam ap Cynhaethwy and Christian verch Gwarin Ddu.

He died in 1344 in Wernddu, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Cymru.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Gwenlian verch Aron. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Gwilym ap Jenkin (1327-1377).

His second wife was Lowri verch Philip. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Philip ap Jenkin (c1332-?).
