Philip was born in 1334 in Sain Pyr, Matharn, Monmouthshire, Cymru, the son of Morgan ap Llewellyn and Mallt verch Rhun.
He died in 1382 in Monmouthshire, Cymru.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Maud verch Madoc. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was John (1427-?).
His second wife was Gwenilian Norris. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were Jenkyn ap Philip (c1377->1441) and Margaret verch Philip (c1398-1407).
