Andrew was born about 1390 in Broxmouth, Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland, the son of sir Andrew VII Gray and Janet de Mortimer.
He died about 1469 in Perthshire, Scotland.
His wife was Elizabeth Wemyss, who he married on 31 OCT 1418. The place has not been found. Their five known children were Patrick (c1420-<1464), Margaret (1416-1490), Andrew (c1421-c1466), David (c1429-?) and Christian (c1427-?).
