János was born in 1613 in Kisbun, the son of Farkas Bethlen de Bethlen and Anna Kemény de Magyargyerõmonostor.
He died on 28 FEB 1678 in Nagyszeben.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Borbála Várady de Kolosvár, who he married on 27 JAN 1637. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Miklós (1642-?).
His second wife was Klára Fekete de Frics, who he married in 1662. The place has not been found. They had no known children.
