John was born about 1410 in Rotherwas, Herefordshire, England, the son of sir Thomas de la Barre and Alice Talbot.
He died about 1454. The place is not known.
His wife was Edom Hotofte. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their only known child was Elinore (1437-1474).
