Amalie was born about 1414 in Breuberg, Starkenburg, the daughter of Michael I von Wertheim and Sofie von Henneberg-Aschach.

She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was Wieland von Freiburg. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. They had no known children.

Her second husband was Otto von Erbach, who she married on 10 MAY 1450. The place has not been found. Their two known children were Amely (<1454-1484) and Eva (<1461-1489).
