His wife was Katun Anastazya Kometopulos. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were András I (c1014-1061), Béla I (1016-1063) and Levente (?-1047).

He took part in a conspiracy aimed at the murder of king Stephen, since he was excluded from the royal succession in favour of Pietro Orseolo. The assassination attempt failed. Vazul had his eyes gouged out and molten lead poured in his ears; his sons were exiled.
