His wife was Adélaïde Dagneau de Quindre, who he married on 18 MAY 1808 in Détroit, Wayne Co. MI . Their eleven known children were Adélaïde (1809-1809), Joseph (1810->1840), Adélaïde (1811-1864), Daniel Joseph (1813-1883), Catherine (1816-1880), Denis Joseph (1819-1878), Jacques Edouard (1821-1864), Émilie (1823-?), Théodore (1825-?), Mathilde (1827-?) and Timothée Alexandre (1829-?).

Burton, City of Detroit Michigan, 1701-1922 Vol II, p. 1293: He was trader with the Indians while still a boy and kept up and increased his business until he had accumulated a fortune and retired from active work in 1837 to spend the remainder of his life in looking after and improving his enterprises. He was much more than ordinarily successful in his business enterprises. etc He was prominent in political affairs in his younger days and held many offices which were important at the time. He was a trustee of the village at various times. He was assessor, appraiser, over-seer of the poor, inspector of water barrels, city treasurer and held various other offices. He was captain and major of militia. He was a mason and was buried with Masonic ceremonies July 27, 1863. ... At the time of his death in 1863 he was by far the wealthiest man in Michigan. He left the catholic church in 1800 because of "acts of the priests" and joined the Masonic order. He was excommunicated from the Catholic church circa 1817.
